HAURATON production plant in Ötigheim

Sustainable production

At HAURATON, it is important for us to consciously think about the environment in our manufacturing practices. Thanks to ongoing research and innovations, we have been able to reduce our energy consumption. Whether that’s through our material selection, or various measures in our production plant in Ötigheim.

Learn how we are actively adapting energy saving solutions for a better environmental outcome.

Photovoltaic panels

Solar and photovoltaic energy

The roof of the Ötigheim plant is equipped with 2,784 photovoltaic panels covering a total area of 4,478 m². The plant supplies approximately 2,100 kWh per day, which are fed directly into the electricity grid. This corresponds to approximately 93% of HAURATON’s electricity needs. The production of electricity through photovoltaics saves about 370 tons of CO2* per year. The additional electricity needs are covered by eco-electricity, i.e. electricity from renewable energies.

Primary energy saving

The production of electricity generates up to 60% of heat energy which generally remains unused. Our combined heat and power unit recovers all available heat energy for hot water production and improving the efficiency of heating systems. Thanks to the maximum use of the CHP plant, 40% of the primary energy can be saved and annual CO2 emissions can also be reduced thanks to this reduction in energy consumption.

Rinne mit Wasser

Reduced water consumption

The production of concrete gutters is based on so-called optimized formulations for hydration. This ensures that only the amounts of water actually needed are used in the manufacturing process.

LEED Inspection

LEED and BREEAM Product Sustainability Declarations

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) are certification systems for sustainable construction.

In order to support the LEED and BREEAM certification process for our clients, we provide information on our project-related products and services upon request. Our life cycle assessment takes into account the phases of production, transport to the implementation site and waste treatment (modules A1-A4, C3 and D, in accordance with the European standard EN 15804).
