Extreme conditions for the drainage solution
In the New Deep Water Terminal sector, the loading area in the wharf deck required an effective surface drainage solution. The demands on the drainage system were high. A particularly large area had to be drained which is mainly used for loading coal and metals. Therefore, the area is regularly trafficked by fully loaded heavy-duty vehicles with considerable amounts of loose material falling onto the surface of the deck during daily operations.
In addition, the drainage system needed to be installed within an existing trench. Due to the structure of the deck, the depth of this trench could not be extended, therefore restricting the overall depth of the drainage channel required. A corrosive environment was also apparent due to saline conditions with a hot, humid climate.
Drainage system & technical support from HAURATON
Due to all these challenges faced in the project, traditional drainage channels would not provide an effective solution. The choice therefore fell on the RECYFIX NC channel from HAURATON. These drainage channels have a body manufactured from modified polypropylene composite, which results in higher hydraulic discharge performance and less dirt accumulation, due to a smooth inner surface and a u-shaped channel profile. The system is also strong, durable and corrosion resistant, so perfectly suited project requirements. The client was also impressed by the close technical support and installation supervision at site provided by HAURATON, which justified their decision regarding system choice.
