Steel channels from HAURATON
Steel is a material that, with its many variants and processing options, is also used for tasks in rainwater management. HAURATON has been using steel as a channel material for many decades. This means that we can draw on a wealth of experience.
For more than 40 years, HAURATON has been offering steel channel systems under the DACHFIX brand. Initially, these were used for the height-adjustable drainage of roof terraces, balcony connections and façade elements. With continuous further development, many new special applications have now been added to the STEELFIX standard range, enabling us to respond more quickly and effectively to customer requirements.
What are the special characteristics of steel?
Steel channels are a prime example of sustainability in the construction industry. The key to their environmental friendliness lies in recycling. Both steel and stainless steel channels can be fully recycled at the end of their useful life. This means that disused steel channels do not end up as waste, but are processed into new raw materials.
Steel channels withstand high loads, extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Their smooth surface ensures rapid water drainage and prevents deposits. Galvanised steel increases corrosion resistance, which extends service life and makes it an economical choice for drainage systems.
Steel channels are characterised by their low weight. The relatively thin walls allow for a large drainage cross-section while still offering high strength and stability. The low weight facilitates transport and handling on the construction site. This makes both transport and installation cost-effective and efficient.
The flexibility of steel channels is a decisive advantage in modern construction. Steel is extremely easy to work with and can be formed into almost any conceivable shape, ensuring a high degree of adaptability. This enables quick production and ensures intricate designs and an attractive appearance. Thanks to these properties, steel channels can be optimally adapted to the specific requirements and designs of a construction project.
Steel types at HAURATON
High-quality materials give the steel channels from HAURATON their unique appearance and ensure reliable long-term functionality.
Hot-dip galvanising is a particularly durable and cost-effective corrosion protection method that offers advantages that are unique in corrosion protection technology. Hot-dip galvanised surfaces are not only protected against wind and weather, but also optimally protected against mechanical stresses – for decades. Under normal conditions, hot-dip galvanising protects against corrosion for up to 50 years, and even with higher stresses, the protection period is usually more than 25 years.
Custom-made stainless steel channels are made of rust-free chromium-nickel steel in material grades 1.4301 (V2A) and 1.4404 (V4A). This makes them corrosion-resistant.
Corten steel is a steel alloy characterised by a high resistance to weathering. Its surface is covered with a particularly dense layer of iron oxide, which is responsible for the high rust resistance: it acts as a barrier layer and gives the product the desired rust-red appearance.
In addition to the material, you can also choose between different surface finishes: ground, sandblasted, polished, glass bead blasted, stained or coated. This way, the appearance of the drainage system can be individually adapted to the aesthetic requirements of your project.
