Surface drainage was required for the platforms for efficient rainwater management and the prevention of flooding during heavy rainfall. With over 50,000 passengers (per year) expected to use Low Moor Railway Station, the specified drainage system needed to be durable enough to withstand moderate foot traffic.
As some of the channels would be installed nearer the outer edge of the platform, the system required non-corrosive gratings, as foot traffic would be minimal within these areas. Non-treated ductile iron gratings would oxidise, leaving a non-aesthetic appeal.
Colin Taff, HAURATON Area Sales Manager – North East, proposed the RECYFIX PRO surface drainage system.
