It was essential that rainwater was drained effectively round the perimeter of the old and new buildings’ paved and asphalted surfaces. There were three different drainage requirements for this project.
As the system would be subject to infrequent traffic, it was essential the gratings were composite to keep their aesthetic appeal.
With the surface area being a pedestrian zone, a design principle was to ensure the gratings had narrow slots (heelsafe).
As this was a high-profile prestigious project, the consideration of aesthetically-pleasing channel systems was required.
