Extensive impermeable surfaces required efficient surface drainage
Designed by Architects Corstorphine+Wright as an open townscape, the Whiteley Shopping Centre was built on levelled land that originally sloped down towards an existing car park and petrol filling station. With extensive paved, concreted, resin bonded aggregate and asphalted areas, surface water drainage was an important consideration in the general landscaping of the site.

Shop area RECYFIX SLOTTED CHANNELS
The channels offered discreet yet efficient surface drainage for the paved interlinking areas within the centre.
Parking bays RECYFIX PRO
The coloured resin bonded aggregate surface behind the shops for the parking bays is drained by RECYFIX PRO 100 channel run, which are fitted with heelsafe FIBRETEC composite gratings.
Roadway FASERFIX KS
50 metres of FASERFIX KS 150 channels with 9mm slot ductile iron class E 600 gratings were installed across many of the centres’ access roads.
Service yard FASERFIX KS
300 metres of FASERFIX KS 200 channels with 20 mm slot ductile iron class F 900 gratings were used to drain the concrete service yards located behind the shops.
Pedestrian access route RECYFIX PRO
RECYFIX PRO 200 channels fitted with ductile iron class D 400 gratings were installed across the pedestrian access route to the bays.
Sides of buildings RECYFIX PLUS
RECYFIX PLUS 100 channels with 6mm slot ductile iron class D 400 gratings were installed to drain rainwater away from the sides of buildings.
Accessories for the above channel systems included access covers, trash boxes, blank end caps and end caps with outlets.
